Important East Granby Annual Budget Town Meeting and Referendum Information

Town Meeting is April 25, 2016 Referendum is May 3, 2017

East Granby's Annual Town Meeting on the Budget will be held at the Senior and Community Center tonight, April 25, 2017 at 7:30 pm. No vote on the budget will be taken at tonight's meeting, but the Boards of Finance, Selectmen and Education will make presentations and answer questions. At the conclusion of the presentations, the referendum hours (anticipated to be 6 am to 8 pm) will be set and the meeting will adjourn to a machine ballot referendum on May 3rd. The April 15th Special Budget edition of Let's Talk Turkey indicated that the Annual Budget Referendum is "anticipated to be May 9th at the Senior/Community Center". Please note that the Actual Referendum will be held on May 3, 2017 at the Senior Community Center.

The Annual Budget as recommended by the Board of Finance at their April 19th meeting is for a total of $22,295,888 with $4,662,000 for General Government; $16,316,125 for the Board of Education; $667,763 for Debt Service and $650,000 for the Capital Reserve Fund. The Board of Finance projects this would represent a 1.2% increase in Operating Budgets and anticipates a 4.2% increase in the mill rate.
