Lost Acres Fire Department to Bolster Fire Prevention Efforts with FM Global Grant

GRANBY, Conn.—The Lost Acres Fire Department has received a $ 500 fire prevention grant from FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers. FM Global representatives presented the award to Fire Prevention Chair & Firefighter Tim Rickis at Beman True Value Hardware located on 20 Hartford Ave., Granby CT. The award will be used to assist with fire prevention and awareness activities in the community. Pictured in the photo is Tim Rickis from LAFD, and Joan Beman, daughter of Robert (Bob) Beman. Bob served the Lost Acres Fire Department for 35 years, first as a volunteer firefighter, then as assistant chief, then as chief. He is pictured in the photo Joan is holding, riding LA-1 with current Lt. Erik Davis. A supply of Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors were purchased in partnership with Joan from Beman Hardware for use in the field. Through its Fire Prevention Grant Program, FM Global awards grants to fire departments—as well as national, state, regional, local and community organizations worldwide—that best demonstrate a need for funding, where dollars can have the most demonstrable impact on preventing fire, or mitigating the damage it can quickly cause.
