MARC to Debut Special Needs Voting Device for Granby and Area Residents

The system is designed to make voting more accessible to individuals with disabilities.

MANCHESTER, CT — This year a new accessible voting device will premiere on Election Day throughout the State of Connecticut.

The system is designed to make voting more accessible to individuals with disabilities via a computerized system that provides a verifiable paper ballot at each of the polling places.

In order to get information about the new system out to the community, MARC, Inc. of Manchester, a not-for-profit organization that supports people with disabilities, is hosting, in-conjunction with the Manchester registrars of voters a demonstration of the system on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at MARC’s offices, 151 Sheldon Road, Manchester.

After the demonstration, a mock election will take place rom 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.that will feature past historical figures to enable individuals to learn about the voting process using polling equipment provided by the registrar of voters.

In addition to the demonstration, there will be opportunities for individuals to register for the upcoming Presidential & State elections on Nov. 8.

The event is free and open to the public.
