GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent notable achievements for college students from the Granbys, as reported by readMedia Newswire.

Clarkson University, Potsdam NY

  • Matt David Hawthorne of Granby, a sophomore majoring in engineering and management, was named to the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester at Clarkson University. Dean's List students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

Hofstra University, Hempstead NY

  • Jessica Manion of Granby achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring 2017 semester, earning a spot on the Provost's List.
  • Caitlin Kopf of Granby excelled during the spring 2017 semester, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the Dean's List.

Siena College, Loudonville NY

  • Catherine Sullivan has been named to the Siena College President's List for the spring 2017 semester. Sullivan is from Granby. The President's List requires a 3.9 grade point average or higher.

  • Tunxis Community College in Farmington has announced Kimberly Leydon of Granby qualified for the Dean’s List for the spring 2017 semester. Students matriculated in a certificate or degree program who have earned a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher and have successfully completed 12 or more credits, or have earned a cumulative 12 credits over multiple semesters, are eligible for this academic honor.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

  • The University of Hartford is pleased to announce the following local students have been named to the Dean's List for spring 2017: John Klemonsky of East Granby, Sarah Smith of East Granby, Samantha Soucy of East Granby, Charles Delorenzo of Granby, Olivia Papa of Granby and Ivan Semyanko of West Granby.

University of Scranton, Scranton PA

  • A pair of Granby residents were among more than 1,600 students who were named to The University of Scranton's Dean's List for the 2017 spring semester. The Dean's List recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to make the Dean's List. Granby students are Amanda R. Jacobs, a senior chemistry major in the University's College of Arts and Sciences, and Emma M. Percival, a senior early and primary teacher education major in the University's Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Amanda R. O'Connor, of Granby, took part in Western New England University's spring production of Beauty and the Beast to sold-out audiences at Western New England University. O'Connor is a freshman majoring in Sociology and has been a part of five productions already; two musicals and three plays. Her favorite musical was Peter Pan, and her favorite play was Arsenic and Old Lace. She was Stage Manager for her senior year in high school in which she participated in Where the Wind Blows and How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying. For this production, Amanda was on the Sound Crew.
