GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern Connecticut State University recently released the names of full-time students who were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester. Among the honorees are Caitlin Daleb of Granby, whose major is Communication, and Kathryn Kelly of East Granby, whose major is Biology.
• Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester. Part-time student David Bafumo of East Granby was named to the Dean's List. Bafumo's major is Environmental Earth Science.

University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI

• The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce that 5,500 undergraduates have qualified for the fall 2017 Dean's List. The students represent nearly all of Rhode Island's cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, and many other states and nations. To be included on the Dean's List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average. The list includes students who have not yet declared their majors as well as those from all of the University's undergraduate academic colleges. Local honorees are Leke Gorani and Kane Russell of East Granby, and Jessica Askew, Andrew Main, Kaitlyn Moskey and Sarah Pizzanello of Granby.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• Four local residents were among 1,608 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2017 semester; Samantha Eaton of East Granby, a member of the class of 2018 majoring in civil engineering; Tyler Beaupre of Granby, a member of the class of 2018 majoring in interactive media and game development, and computer science; Casey Hunt of Granby, a member of the class of 2019 majoring in management engineering; and Spencer Howes of Granby, a member of the class of 2020 majoring in robotics engineering. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
