More College Accomplishments By Granby, East Granby Students: 2023

GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire. More great feats will be noted in the coming weeks.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• More than 300 Eastern Connecticut State University students were recognized for scholarly excellence at the conclusion of the spring 2023 semester. Given by academic departments across the University, the recognitions included induction into more than a dozen academic honor societies, scholarship awards and departmental distinctions. Among those honored was Aidan Hennessy of Granby, a junior who majors in computer science. Hennessy was inducted into the Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) international honor society for computing and information disciplines on April 26 in the J. Eugene Smith Library.

Hamilton College, Clinton NY

• Alana King of Granby was recently named to the 2023 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) spring All-Academic Team for women's lacrosse. The recognition honors sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. King, a rising senior majoring in Chinese and psychology, is a graduate of Granby Memorial High School.

James Madison University, Harrisonburg VA

• East Granby resident Julia Redfield has been named to the Dean's List at James Madison University for the spring 2023 semester. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Redfield is majoring in communication sciences and disorders.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY

• On May 20, 2023, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute awarded a total of 1,988 degrees - 152 doctoral degrees, 390 master's degrees, and 1,446 bachelor's degrees - to 1,957 students, some of whom earned multiple degrees. Anthony Bonadies of Granby graduated with a BS in information tech & web science; Janine Prokscha of Granby graduated with an ME in systems engineering and tech management; and Sara Zafian of Granby graduated with a BS in biomedical engineering.

Siena College, Loudonville NY

• Luke Jennings of Granby was named to the Siena College President's List for the spring 2023 Semester. The President's List requires a 3.9 grade point average or higher.
• Bailey Yeager of Granby has been named to the Siena College Dean's List for the spring 2023 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student's grade point average for the semester must be between 3.5 and 3.89.

St. Lawrence University, Canton NY

• Evan Holm of West Granby was one of more than 550 members of St. Lawrence University's Class of 2023 who took part in the Commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 21 at Newell Field House in Canton, New York. Holm is a member of the Class of 2023 and majored in environmental studies-economics. Holm attended Granby Memorial High School.

Stonehill College, Easton MA

• Taylor Whitehouse of East Granby and Ralph Rossi of Granby were among nearly 1,000 students named to the spring 2023 Dean's List at Stonehill College. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have successfully completed all courses for which they were registered.

Western Connecticut State University, Danbury CT

• James Accetura of Granby, majoring in music education, has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2023 semester at WCSU.
