No Charges Yet in President Obama Threat Case, Suspicious Car Found in Connecticut

Police were able to locate the suspicious car in Hamden, Conn. on Friday.

Update at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014: Westchester News 12reported that initially authorities believed the man who may have allegedly made threats against President Obama, might have been armed with an assault rifle.

Additionally, the man may have been in Yonkers at some point on Friday, but whether he was armed or not has not been disclosed, according to Westchester News 12.

Obama was in Westchester Friady and Saturday for two fundraisers and thewedding of MSNBC news anchor Alex Wagner.

Update at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014: The United States Secret Service says there have been no arrests yet made in connection with a suspicious person driving through Connecticut who allegedly made threats against President Barack Obama, the New Haven Register reports.

Connecticut State Police working with Hamden Police Department officials located a 2014 silver Volkswagen Jetta in Hamden late Friday, the Register reports.

But as of late Saturday no charges have been filed against the driver of the car. President Obama was in Rhode Island Friday evening, and is back at the White House.

Hamden police declined to comment referring any update to the Secret Service.

State police from the Bridgeport and Bethany barracks along with the U.S. Secret Service were on the lookout Friday night for a silver 2014 Volkswagen Jetta thought to be driven by a man who made threats against President Obama , according to the Hartford Courant.

The Secret Service confirmed they were looking for a ”potentially suspicious person and vehicle,” according to the Courant report Friday night.

Obama was scheduled to be at a Democratic Party fundraising event Friday evening at a private home in Rhode Island, according to the newspaper.

The car has Connecticut license plates, according t o an NBC Connecticut report, which also said Obama was scheduled to land in Air Force One at Westchester County Airport Friday afternoon, head into New York City for fundraisers, then fly to T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, RI for the fundraising event in the evening.
