North Granby Student Part of UConn Team That Designed Ornaments for National Holiday Tree Display

The national tree lighting is slated for Dec. 1

STORRS, CT — University of Connecticut art students, including one each from Manchester, Tolland and North Granby, designed 12 ornaments for the Connecticut tree that is part of the 2016 Ornaments from Across the USA Display program that includes the National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse in Washington, D.C. near the White House and Washington Monument.

A tree from each state features original ornaments designed by artists selected from that state.

The National Christmas Tree Lighting will take place on Dec. 1, with the event televised on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. on the Hallmark Channel.

The ornaments on the Connecticut tree were designed by six senior illustration/graphic design students in a class led by Alison Paul, assistant professor of illustration and animation in the School of Fine Arts.

The students included Ezra Blanchard of Manchester, Paige Kibby of North Granby and Bruno Perosino of Tolland.
