Open Cockpits, Border Closings, And The YMCA

Sunday Feb. 20, 2011

Today is Sunday Feb. 20, 2011 and there are 314 days left in the year. Today skies will become increasingly cloudy and the temperature will reach a high of 32 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the area and we could see wind gusts up to 44 mph.  There's snow on the way for President's Day, check back for updates on The Granbys Patch.

If you need an excuse to get the kids out of the house today, swing across town lines into Windsor Locks.  The New England Air Museum is opening the cockpits of 12 vintage aircraft, a full motion flight simulator, and two static flight simulators. A food vendor will be on site all day. Stop by between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Adults age 12 and up: $10; Children ages 4-11: $6; Children under 3: free; Seniors: $9

If you haven't hear, Borders in Simsbury will be closing along with several others across the state.  Head on over for the liquidation sale and take advantage.  For more on the store closings and corporate bankruptcy filings, read today's story by Simsbury Patch Editor Stephanie Riefe.
