GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire. More great feats will be noted in the coming weeks.

Colgate University, Hamilton NY

  • Kylie Geer of East Granby, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2022, earned the spring 2022 Dean's Award with Distinction. Geer is a biology and Spanish major, and a graduate of East Granby High School. Students who receive a term grade point average of 3.6 or higher while completing at least three courses during the spring 2022 semester earn the Dean's Award with Distinction.
  • Jake Harris of Granby, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2024, earned the spring 2022 Dean's Award for Academic Excellence. Harris is an economics major and a graduate of the Loomis Chaffee School. Students who receive a term grade point average of 3.3 or higher while completing at least three courses earned the spring 2022 Dean's Award for Academic Excellence.

  • Alana King, of Granby, was recently named to the 2022 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) fall all-academic team for field hockey. The recognition honors sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. King, a junior majoring in Chinese and psychology, is a graduate of Granby Memorial High School.

Lasell University, Newton MA

  • Karissa Gaughan, a Lasell University student from Granby, presented at the institution's annual Career Readiness Symposium. Gaughan shared updates from the Lasell University student newspaper, the 1851 Chronicle. The presentation incorporated the NACE competencies of professionalism, leadership, and career and self-development. Gaughan is a digital sports editor for the 1851 Chronicle.
  • Karissa Gaughan and Ryan Stone, both of Granby, were named to the Dean's List for their academic performance in the fall 2022 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, Lasell students must complete at least 12 credits as a full-time student and achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Springfield College, Springfield MA

  • Springfield College has named eight local students to the fall 2022 Dean's List. They are Laura Brassard of East Granby, Brianna Cassin of Granby, Jessica Gnesda of Granby, Victoria Hall of East Granby, Rose Hart of East Granby, Catherine Kelly of East Granby, Emily Kelly of East Granby and Jade Kiang of East Granby. The criteria for selection to the Dean's List are as follows: The student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded coursework for the term, exclusive of "P" grades. The student must not have any incompletes or missing grades in the designated term. The student must have a minimum semester grade average of 3.500 for the term.

Stonehill College, Easton MA

  • Taylor Whitehouse of East Granby, a member of the Class of 2023, and Ralph Rossi of Granby, a member of the Class of 2026, have been named to the fall 2022 Dean's List at Stonehill College. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford CT

  • Three local students have been named to the dean's list for the fall 2022 semester: Rachel Bittner of East Granby, majoring in nursing; Riley Shelansky of Granby, majoring in special education; and Emily Wassick of Granby, majoring in nursing. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.50 or higher for the semester, with no grade lower than a "B."
