Planet Fitness Gym in East Granby Donating New Customer Fees to Food Banks

All CT gyms in the chain are donating enrollment fees and sending customers' donations of canned goods. Last year, $14,000 was given.

Planet Fitness health club at 10 East St. in East Granby, and all other Planet Fitness gyms in Connecticut are collecting cans for food banks and donating all new enrollment fees to the food banks.

Each new customer’s entire enrollment fee of at least $5 will be turned over to one of six food banks in the state along with the canned food.

New customers can decide to pay a higher amount, all of which will go to a food bank, according to Planet Fitness. The fundraising campaign has already started and ends Wednesday, Nov. 19.

“Last year, we were able to donate thousands of canned food items and over $14,000 in enrollment fees,” said Matt Wilcox, vice president of marketing for Planet Fitness in the state. “We would love to increase these amounts this year and continue to help ease the burden our neighbors may be experiencing, especially during this holiday season.”

These six food banks will get the proceeds:
