Road Work Could Slow Traffic Near Bradley

Maintenance near the main gate of Bradley Air National Guard Base is expected to continue through mid-July.

EAST GRANBY, CT — Drivers near Bradley Air National Guard Base should expect temporary traffic disruptions beginning Wednesday, June 24, as maintenance work gets underway near the base’s main gate, according to the 103d Airlift Wing.

The gate serves Bradley Air National Guard Base, located at 100 Nicholson Road in East Granby, according to official installation information. The base is home to the Connecticut Air National Guard’s 103d Airlift Wing.

The Town of East Granby is scheduled to conduct maintenance near the gate through an anticipated completion date of July 14, officials said.

On Wednesday, June 24, from 7 a.m. to noon, inbound and outbound lanes will close at different times. Traffic will be routed through whichever lane remains open for vehicles entering and exiting the installation.

The 103d Airlift Wing, also known as the “Flying Yankees,” provides tactical airpower and mission support for Connecticut and the nation, according to the Connecticut National Guard. The unit operates C-130 Hercules aircraft, which are used for tactical airlift missions.

Officials urged drivers to use extra caution near the gate and follow posted traffic signs and directions from personnel in the area.
