Starbucks Considering Alcohol Sales – Should Connecticut Stores be Included? [POLL]

With a shift in sales and the growing popularity of "happy hour" in recent years, Starbucks is looking to capitalize on the changing social landscape. Would you buy a different kind of brew?

is a popular option for local residents when it comes to their favorite coffee brews, but could the national chain soon be the after work destination for happy hour?

The chain began selling beer and wine at five stores in Washington and one more in Oregon during the second half of 2011. The stores have seen great success in the early trials, Senior Vice President of U.S. Operations Clarice Turner said in a press release.

Following a successful trial, the chain announced this week that it will begin doing test runs in other parts of the country including Atlanta, Chicago, Southern California and the Pacific Northwest. No store locations have been named for the next trial round, which will take place before the end of 2012.

“As our customers transition from work to home, many are looking for a warm and inviting place to unwind and connect with the people they care about,” Turner said. “At select stores where it is relevant for the neighborhood, we are focused on creating an atmosphere where our customers can relax with a friend, a small bite to eat and a cup of coffee or glass of wine.”

As part of the new initiative, the selected locations will also serve premium food such as savory snacks, small plates and hot flatbreads.

So if were to have success and consider a similar option in Connecticut, would you take advantage of the opportunity? Should Connecticut locations be included in the trial? Are you concerned about pricing?
