Taste of Granby to Take Place Rain or Shine Friday
Event will feature food and drink from various local restaurants and establishments, as well as a silent auction and music from John Mayock and the Homesteaders.

Organizers of Friday’s 3rd annual Taste of Granby charity event want to make two things perfectly clear: 1. it’s is open to the public; and 2. it will take place rain or shine.
“We’re a little concerned that people are holding off [buying tickets],” said event Co-Chairperson Jen Burkhart said.
The event, which will be held at in West Granby, is sponsored by the Granby Chamber of Commerce and the funds raised will be donated to benefit the farm’s Fresh Access Program, which provides fresh produce to the Granby Community Kitchen, Food Share, and area senior centers.
Taste of Granby will give people the opportunity to sample various food dishes and drinks from local establishments.
Here is an up to date list of the restaurants and establishments that are participating and what they will serve:
– cold gazpacho soup and fiesta chicken
– stuffed kielbasa, potato skins, stuffed mushrooms, pulled pork
Katering by Karen – Thai shrimp cilantro wraps and pot stickers
Old Well Tavern – Burnt Endz and chicken wings
– chocolate covered strawberries, peanut butter & raspberry cheesecake balls
Tastefully Simple – almond & chocolate pound cake with sauces
Tina’s Ice Cream – ice cream

There will also be a silent auction with over 40 items from local businesses, including restaurant gift certificates, salon and massage gift certificates, gift baskets and golf items.
What’s more, the band John Mayock and the Homesteaders are back by popular demand will be performing again on the grounds of the Holcomb Farm.
Taste of Granby also gives people an opportunity to reintroduce themselves to Holcomb Farm, which, according to Burkhart, is “a wonderful town resource.”
“It’s just a great, fun community event at the farm,” Burkhart said.
Tickets are $25 in advance and are available online at granbycoc.org and at Simsbury Bank, Windsor Federal Savings, Northwest Community Bank, Center Spirit Shop, and Granby Pharmacy. The cost for entry at the door is $30.
