The Steel Wheels Roll into Granby's Holcomb Farm

Four-piece, Virginia-based band played selections from, among other things, its second studio album "Lay Down, Lay Low."

The “Concert in the Loft” series kicked off its spring/summer schedule Friday evening with The Steel Wheels, an exquisite four-piece, Virginia-based acoustic band.

Touring on their newly released second album “Lay Down, Lay Low,” Trent Wagler (lead vocals, guitar, banjo), Jay Lapp (mandolin, guitar), Brian Dickel (upright bass) and Eric Brubaker (fiddle) performed a broad set of Americana folk music that ranged from the bluesy (“Alaska”) to the joyful (“Shady Grove”) to the soulful (“Lay Down, Lay Low”).

Members of the sold-out audience weren’t disappointed, as several songs invited foot stomping participation and several more intrepid people were moved to dance in the aisle.

Check out the photo gallery of the band playing and the pre-concert tailgating that took place.
