Tyler Sworn in as Granby's New Police Captain
Former 30-year veteran of the Farmington Police Department had his badge pinned on him by his daughter.

The town of Granby welcomed its new police captain at a swearing-in ceremony/reception in Community Room of the Police Department Monday morning.
Forty-nine-year-old William Tyler, a 30-year veteran of the Farmington Police Department, had his new badge pinned on him by his daughter during the 15-minute ceremony.
Tyler, who rose to the rank of lieutenant in Farmington, thanked the members of the audience - which included several members of the Board of Selectmen, Farmington Chief of Police Paul Melanson, Simsbury Chief of Police Peter Ingvertsen, former Granby Chief of Police David Watkins - and said he looked forward to working with the people in Granby.
“We look forward to his entry to the police department,” Town Manager William Smith said. “He comes to us with a great deal of experience.”
Chief of Police Carl Rosenswieg provided the opening remarks before ceding the floor to Tyler.
“It’s a great fit,” Board of Selectman Vice Chair Sally King said.
