Varsity Schedules Set to Begin in Granby, East Granby

GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — Schools are all now back in session throughout Connecticut, and athletic teams have been practicing for nearly two weeks. Looking forward, opening day for Granby Memorial and East Granby high school varsity squads is literally just around the corner.

Here are the scheduled regular season openers for Bear and Crusader teams:

GRANBY MEMORIAL

• girls soccer - Friday, Sept. 8 at Canton, 4:15 p.m.
• boys soccer - Friday, Sept. 8 vs. Canton, 4:45 p.m.
• football - Friday, Sept. 8 at North Branford, 6:30 p.m.
• field hockey - Saturday, Sept. 9 vs. Joel Barlow, 11:30 a.m.
• girls volleyball - Monday, Sept. 11 at Weaver, 6:15 p.m.
• cross country - Wednesday, Sept. 13 vs. Stafford, Windsor Locks, 4:15 p.m.

EAST GRANBY

• boys soccer - Friday, Sept. 8 vs. East Windsor, 3:30 p.m.
• girls soccer - Friday, Sept. 8 at East Windsor, 5:15 p.m.
• football - Friday, Sept. 8 vs. Nonnewaug, 6:30 p.m.
• girls swimming - Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Woodland, 5 p.m.
• cross country - Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Ellington (with Suffield and Rockville), 4:15 p.m.
