WEATHER ALERT: Snowstorm to Impact Valentine's Day Dinner Plans

Happy Valentine’s Day? It looks like Mother Nature is doing her best to snow all over your romantic dinner plans.

On Saturday, the entire state of Connecticut is looking at least 3 to 6 inches of snow accumulation by midday Sunday, and far eastern parts of the state could see up to 10 inches of snow.

And of course the snow is supposed to really pick up in intensity Saturday evening and into the overnight hours. Just in time for your Valentine’s dinner plans.

Besides the snow, we’ll be dealing with subzero temperatures and winds gusting up to 55 mph on Sunday, which could lead to power outages.

In fact, inland portions of the state are under a Wind Chill Advisory Thursday evening, as the wind chill factor readings could reach 15 below zero, according to the National Weather Service.

For coastal Connecticut communities, you may not be under a Wind Chill Advisory Thursday night, but it’s still going to feel like 5 below zero. Not much of a consolation prize.

“Our ‪#‎FirstAlertCT‬ forecast for the snow late Saturday through Sunday morning...of greater concern, fierce winds Sunday morning, gusting over 50 mph, with potential power outages DURING the brutal cold…,” NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Brad Field wrote on Facebook.

“Light snow later Saturday, heavier late night-Sunday AM. 3”-5” western half of the state and 5”-8” eastern half are my early snow thoughts. Power outage, wind gusts all day Sunday, with 55 mph expected,” wrote WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons on Facebook.

And the news gets even better, only if you like snow. The National Weather Service is predicting more snow for Tuesday, Tuesday night and Wednesday.

And during this stretch of time, temps won’t exceed the freezing mark, and the daytime highs will be lucky to reach the teens. The Polar Vortex has finally arrived.
