West Granby Woman Named "40 Under Forty"

Erin Pirro, 35, was recently named to Hartford Business “40 Under Forty” list. Pirro, a West Granby resident works as a farm business consultant for Farm Credit East helping farmers and agriculturists improve businesses functions. According to the Hartford Business article, Pirro’s focus is on “benchmarking and profitability improvement because sustainability means economics, too.”

Pirro works with a group of 50 agriculturists “to analyze financial and operational metrics to set industry standards, and use that information to focus my clients’ strategic business planning,” she said.

Pirro serves locally on the Granby Agricultural Commission and on the Connecticut Farm Bureau Board of Directors. She also helps run Granby’s Open Farm Day and coordinates Connecticut’s Outstanding Young Farmer program. Nationally she serves as the chief financial officer for the American Society of Agricultural Consultants.

Pirro said “we need to change with the world around us, and remember that sustainability means economics too. If my clients are successful at what they do – and they are still doing it in 20 years, then I will have done my part.”
