14th Annual Greenwich High School Roots & Shoots Thanksgiving Food Drive Underway
The food drive will provide Thanksgiving meals to over 100 families in the local community.
GREENWICH, CT —The 14th annual Greenwich High School Roots & Shoots Food Drive is now underway, and the community can chip in to help those in need.
GHS Roots & Shoots has partnered with Neighbor to Neighbor and the Greenwich Department of Human Services to provide Thanksgiving meals to over 100 families in the local community.
The drive will run through Nov. 22.

Collection boxes will be located outside each House at GHS — Bella, Cantor, Clark, Folsom and Sheldon. The House that collects the most food will earn a special prize.
Donations should be focused on unopened and unexpired foods. Residents are encouraged to consider donating low-sodium, high-protein healthier foods.

Here is a list of needed food items.
- Mashed potatoes
- Yams/sweet potatoes
- Stuffing
- Cranberry sauce
- Gravy
- Tomato sauce
- Pasta
- Hearty soups
- Canned pumpkin
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Cornbread or other bread mixes
- Peanut butter and other nuts/nut butters
- Dried beans, lentils, tuna, or other healthy proteins
- Baby food
- Boxed desserts and snack items such as protein bars
- Breakfast items such as oatmeal and whole-grain cereals
For those who want to contribute but can't make it to GHS to drop off a donation, there are other ways to donate:
- Online: Click here to go to the fundraising page.
- Check: Payable to "GHS" with "Roots and Shoots Thanksgiving Fundraiser" in the memo, mailed in with Attn: to GHS Student Activities, or it can be dropped off directly at the GHs Student Activities office.
- Credit card: This form of payment can be taken care of in-person at the GHS Student Activities office.
