2 Accused Of Using Forged Prescription In Greenwich: Police

GREENWICH, CT — Two New York residents accused of attempting to use a forged prescription at a pharmacy in Greenwich were arrested Thursday, according to police.

In a statement, police said officers responded to a CVS on Sound Beach Avenue in the Old Greenwich area of town after receiving a report of fake prescription being used there. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

After viewing video surveillance footage, officers determined a forged prescription had been used at the store in an attempt to obtain medication.

According to police, further investigation revealed the two women had also obtained narcotics using a fraudulent prescription at a CVS in Stamford.

Yamelin Cruz, 21, of New York, N.Y., was charged with second-degree forgery, conspiracy to commit second-degree forgery, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled substance, obtaining a controlled drug by fraud, conspiracy to commit obtaining a controlled drug by fraud, obtaining a prescription drug by fraud, conspiracy to commit obtaining a prescription drug by fraud and criminal attempt.

Zania Tanae Reme, 20, of Queens Village, N.Y., was charged with second-degree forgery, conspiracy to commit second-degree forgery, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled substance, obtaining a controlled drug by fraud, conspiracy to commit obtaining a controlled drug by fraud, obtaining a prescription drug by fraud, conspiracy to commit obtaining a prescription drug by fraud and criminal attempt.
