2 Greenwich Polling Sites Will Be Audited By State
The sites are among 5 percent of all polling sites in CT this fall where optical scanner votes will be matched against machine totals.

GREENWICH, CT — Two Greenwich polling sites are among 5 percent of Connecticut's voting places from the Sept. 12 primaries that will be audited by state, according to Secretary of the State Denise Merrill.
The two sites, Voting District 12 and Voting District 10 (as an alternate), were selected randomly by state officials, along with sites in New Haven, Stratford, Newtown, Bridgeport, New London and Cheshire.
Primary ballots from these polling places, all of which used optical scanners, will be matched against machine totals, which will affirm the integrity of the vote, said officials. Connecticut General Statutes 9-320f prescribes the rules for the audit.

"Protecting the integrity of our elections is my most important role, and Connecticut voters can be proud that we have some of the most stringent audit laws in the country," said Merrill in a statement. "Between making it easier for Connecticut citizens to register and vote, an increased focus on cybersecurity, and our scrupulous audit process, the rights of the voter are our highest priority."

There were 151 polling places that used optical scan machines on September 12 so the Secretary of the State chose 8 primary and 4 alternate locations. The results of audits will be analyzed by the University of Connecticut, the Secretary of the State’s Office, and the State Elections Enforcement Commission, and then be made available to the public.
Connecticut boasts one of the strictest audit statutes in the country and was the first state in New England to require a comprehensive audit of primary results.
