GREENWICH, CT — Police said Tuesday that two New York men were arrested last week and charged with burglary and trespassing at the Round Hill Club in Greenwich.

Shortly before 12 p.m. on Oct. 3, police were called to the club at 33 Round Hill Club Road on a report of two men attempting to open car doors.

According to the arrest report, someone witnessed the two men, later identified as Benjamin Rodriguez, 30, of Flushing, Queens, N.Y., and Mauricio Rifo-Fuentes, 34, also of Flushing, move their rental car to different locations in the club parking lot and attempt to open car doors.

The club manager told officers that the two men were not members and that they didn't have permission to be on the private property, the arrest report said.

Police said Rodriguz and Rifo-Fuentes took a Connecticut license plate from a parked car at the club and put it on Rodriguez's rental car using a rubber band.

Officers also noted that they found a diamond ring and credit card in plain view located in the center console of the rental car.

The credit card owner was contacted and confirmed that both the card and ring were hers, and that she had left them in her car, adding that Rodriguez and Rifo-Fuentes "did not have permission to enter her vehicle," the arrest report said.

Rodriguez and Rifo-Fuentes were both charged with improper use of a marker plate, third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespassing and third-degree larceny, Lt. Martin O'Reilly of the GPD said.

Both posted a $5,000 surety bond, and are scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 18.
