2 Men Charged With Forgery, Attempted Larceny: Greenwich Police
Police said two men tried making fraudulent purchases at a Greenwich Avenue business on March 8.

GREENWICH, CT — Two men from Queens, N.Y. were arrested earlier this month in Greenwich after police said they attempted to fraudulently purchase $6,030 worth of phones and tablets at a Greenwich Avenue business.
On March 8 around 12:38 p.m., several Greenwich police officers responded to 89 Greenwich Ave. on the report of a fraudulent transaction in progress, police said. The business associated with that address is a Verizon Wireless store.
Bike patrol officers and plain clothes officers working in the area detained two men, later identified as Gen Li, 34, of Flushing, and Shihui Xiao, 34, also of Flushing, their arrest reports said.

The arrest report stated that the two men "used fraudulent IRS documents which contained personal identifying information of a business cooperation, to attempt to fraudulently open an account, circumventing paying for multiple phone and tablets which would have totaled $6,030."
Li and Xiao were each charged with: third-degree criminal attempt at larceny; third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny; criminal impersonation; conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation; first-degree forgery; and first degree conspiracy to commit forgery.

They were given $5,000 bonds. Li and Xiao were able to post 10 percent of their bonds and they were released, according to their arrest reports. They are scheduled to appear in court on March 23.
