GREENWICH, CT -- Two men were arrested on Thursday after police responded to a report of a fraudulent transaction at a central Greenwich bank.

Belcher faces similar conspiracy charges, along with identity theft, forgery and illegal reproduction of a payment card. His bond was set at $60,000.

According to arrest reports, police responded to a bank on Greenwich Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Thursday on a report of a fraudulent transaction where a passport card was used containing someone else's personal identity information in an attempt to withdraw $4,500.

Descriptions of the men were given to plainclothes officers in the area, and officers in the GPD's bike unit

When officers arrived, police said Belcher, who was attempting the transaction, exited the bank and began speaking with Adams about getting into a car.

Officers tried to detain both men, according to arrest reports, but Adams ran away. He was arrested after a brief foot chase, police said.

Inside Adams' car, officers said they found his driver's license laying on top of other bank receipts from additional fraudulent transactions that occurred in other towns on June 2.

Officers said they arrested Belcher and found a fraudulent passport with someone else's information on it, with his photograph.

"Additionally, a citizen's debit card was discovered with the victim's name on it. Within his wallet was a fraudulent HSBC card with the victim's name on it as well," police said in an arrest report.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court June 17.
