GREENWICH, CT — The Board of Selectmen last week swiftly and unanimously approved the 2024 Greenwich Parks & Recreation fee schedule, which does not include any massive changes for the new year.

Parks & Rec. Director Joe Siciliano first appeared before the selectmen on Nov. 21 to present the proposed fees and allow time for public feedback.

"Our goal is to look at [the fees] every year and do some minor increases. Sometimes certain years we focus on certain fees, but nothing here is really going to jump out and have a big effect," Siciliano said at the time.

On Dec. 17, Siciliano returned for approval, and First Selectman Fred Camillo said he had not heard any feedback or negative comments about the fees, which will be implemented Jan. 1, 2024.

"We're not pricing anybody out. We have some really good offerings, and we want to keep that approach, and that's part of being in public recreation, and we want to keep that philosophy," Siciliano said.

Fee change recommendations were determined based on factoring in minimum wage increases, market value comparisons and operational demands, documents submitted to the selectmen say.

Parks & Rec. also tries to keep fees in line with neighboring municipalities.

Park pass prices will remain the same in 2024. Most of the increases are in organized recreation activities, marine activities and camps. Fees to play at the Griffith E. Harris Golf Course will also increase.

Also of note, the town has included rental fees for the Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, which is currently under construction. The hope is for the facility to open in spring 2024.
