"We have seen an increase in daytime larcenies from unlocked motor vehicles in the parking lots north of Putnam Avenue," Zuccerella said in an email. "If you are visiting the area, such as a private club, please remember to lock your vehicles and hide any valuables in the trunk."
After announcing the eight vehicle thefts last week, the lieutenant emphasized that each stolen vehicle had been left unlocked, and the keys were left inside many of the cars. In one instance, keys were left inside unlocked vehicles while the owners were out of town, he said.
