GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department recently recognized four officers for their "excellent police work and coordinated response" during a recent incident.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, the department said Master Police Officer Alan Pesce, Det. Fred Quezada, Sgt. JD Smith and officers Patrick O'Connor, Anthony D'Arco and Sean Beatie were recognized for their response to a report of a "despondent [man] who wanted to end his life" and was armed with a firearm inside his residence.

According to police, Smith engaged the man in conversation while the other officers were able to make their way into the home.

The man was ultimately arrested without incident and taken to a medical facility for assistance, police said. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"[The officers'] quick actions and efforts de-escalated the situation," police said on Facebook, "that enabled this incident to be handled without any force or injuries to those involved."
