Miguel Ilert, 19, was charged with first-degree and sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy, interfering with an officer and refusal to be fingerprinted. He is being held on a $30,000 bond.

At about 2:30 a.m. on Friday, a Greenwich police patrol officer saw two people hiding behind a parked car on South Water Street in Byram, Capt. Mark Zuccerella of the Greenwich Police Department said in a news release. The pair started to run away, and the officer was able to detain one while the other fled.

More officers immediately responded to the area. Another officer saw two people sitting inside a parked car on South Water Street, which was stolen out of Hastings-on-Hudson in Westchester County, Zuccerella said.

"These two suspects abandoned the car and began to run away with officers in a foot pursuit," Zuccerella said.

Officers searched the neighborhood with K9s and found two additional cars that were identified as stolen.

"While conducting their search of the area, officers stopped a passing taxi and discovered one of the wanted suspects in the rear of the car," Zuccerella said.

A few hours later, a Byram resident reported to police that their car alarm had been triggered by a smashed window. An officer responding to the report saw two people sitting in a parked car on Chestnut Street who resembled the suspects who ran away earlier.

When they were confronted by officers, they fled from the car, which officers determined was stolen from Pine Street in Byram.

Shortly after, a caller alerted officers that there were two people running near exit 2 of Interstate-95. Officers responded and took them into custody, Zuccerella said.

The accused adults who fail to post bond are scheduled to appear at the Stamford Superior Court on July 25, police said.
