5 Things To Know In Greenwich: Office-To-Apartments Plan, Sacred Heart Building, Bruce Museum Show And More

Greenwich P&Z hears an office-to-apartments plan and a Sacred Heart building, and a Bruce Museum show opens Thursday.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich's Planning and Zoning Commission will hear plans to turn a Weaver Street office building into 44 apartments, add a new academic building at Convent of the Sacred Heart and renovate Ada's candy store in Riverside, and the Bruce Museum will open a yearlong show of American art.

Here are five things to know in Greenwich this week:

1. Office Building To 44 Apartments; Goddard School Plan
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 4 p.m. (also by Zoom webinar)
Where: Greenwich Town Hall, 101 Field Point Road
What to know: The Planning and Zoning Commission continues its hearing on Fareri Associates L.P.'s plan to convert an office building at 1 East Weaver St. to 44 apartments, a hearing that must close by Oct. 20, according to the tentative agenda. It will also hear the Goddard School's plan to turn a former supermarket at 160 West Putnam Ave. into a day care and preschool.

2. Sacred Heart Building, More Horses, Ada's Candy Store
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 4 p.m.
Where: Greenwich Town Hall, 101 Field Point Road
What to know: Other hearings include the Convent of the Sacred Heart's plan to replace a staff duplex with a new 20,584-square-foot academic building at 1177 King St.; a request by Fox Trot Farm LLC and Silverheels Farms LLC to raise the number of horses allowed at 1014 and 1016 Lake Ave. from 14 to 24; and TMEC Riverside Inc.'s requests to put 114 Riverside Ave. in a historic overlay zone and renovate Ada's candy store there, according to the agenda. The commission must also decide by Oct. 17 on the YMCA's request to raise its child care cap at 50 East Putnam Ave. from 28 to 42 children.

3. Bruce Museum Opens 'American Stories From Sargent To O'Keeffe'
When: Opens Thursday, Oct. 15; museum hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; on view through Oct. 10, 2027
Where: Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive
What to know: The exhibition brings 45 works of American art to Greenwich through a partnership with The Newark Museum of Art, including works by Georgia O'Keeffe, Edward Hopper, John Singer Sargent, Mickalene Thomas, Albert Bierstadt, Marsden Hartley, Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson and Martin Puryear, according to the town calendar. It is organized around identity, belonging, belief and making, with a year of related programs.

4. Greenwich Avenue Street Dining Ends
When: Last day Monday, Oct. 12; removal starts Tuesday, Oct. 13
Where: Greenwich Avenue
What to know: The in-street outdoor dining season on Greenwich Avenue was extended through Monday, Oct. 12, and the town begins collecting barriers and removing the dining areas Tuesday, according to the town. Restaurants are asked to clear their tables, chairs, planters and heaters first.

5. Hearing On Removing 2 Town Trees In Cos Cob
When: Thursday, Oct. 15, 11:30 a.m. (virtual)
Where: Online; Greenwich Town Hall, 101 Field Point Road
What to know: Tree Warden Gregory Kramer will hold a public hearing on removing two town trees at 23 Clover Place in Cos Cob, under the state public shade tree law, according to the notice. Anyone objecting to the removal is asked to attend.
