Abilis Serves Thanksgiving For Families with Special Needs

Abilis Hosts 9th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for 70 Guests and Staff

Abilis, the non-profit organization that provides services and support for individuals with special needs and their families, will celebrate its ninth (9th) annual Thanksgiving Luncheon this year on Thursday, November 24, 2016. The celebration was started to ensure that everyone had a place to go, people to celebrate with, and the ability to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Each year Abilis has approximately 50 residents and 20 staff sit down to a Thanksgiving feast together at the Abilis headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut. Many of the dishes are provided by Abilis’ Board of Directors and volunteers.

Some of the food that will be served this year was donated by the Greenwich Police Department. Abilis operates 23 homes with residents and many don’t have close family nearby. Instead, Abilis has become their family.

Abilis is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides services and supports for more than 700 individuals with special needs and their families from birth throughout adulthood. Abilis has been a leader in serving the special needs community in lower Fairfield county for 65 years and has a long-standing reputation for individualized, high quality care.
