GREENWICH, CT — RegalCare at Greenwich, a nursing home located on King Street, was fined $1,830 by the state Department of Department of Public Health for lapses in patient care on several occasions in less than a year, reports Connecticut Health I-Team.
In one instance, a patient with schizoaffective disorder, who was already nursing a broken shoulder, fell six times in a two-week period in October of last year, writes author Cara Rosner. Five of those falls came after the patient's care plan was supposedly updated to install safeguards to prevent such occurrences, but in one of the falls they dislocated their kneecap.
The facility was also cited for another patient breaking ribs and a collarbone, and requiring stitches to close lacerations after falling in a bathroom in the spring of this year.
RegalCare at Greenwich was one of six nursing homes recently fined by the state for lapses in patient care, according to the publication.
