Volunteer Fire Company Donates Equipment To Greenwich Hospital

Members of the Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company recently donated critical PPE to Greenwich Hospital and first responders.

GREENWICH, CT — Last week, members of the Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company donated critical personal protective equipment to Greenwich Hospital and first responders in town. Over 10,000 surgical masks and 200 Tyvek suits were distributed to organizations, including Greenwich Emergency Medical Service, the Greenwich Fire Department, Greenwich Volunteer Firefighters and the Greenwich Police Department, by members of RHVFC.

According to the announcement, more than 10,000 surgical masks and 200 Tyvek suits were distributed to the organizations by members of RHVFC. The initiative was spearheaded by RHVFC treasurer Stephanie Leone-Kim. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"We are all in this together," Leone-Kim said in a statement. "We were fortunate to be able to secure the PPE through our partner, Ribbon for Humanity, for our community and be able to help. If others want to join our efforts, we can continue to support those on the front lines fighting COVID-19."

Leone-Kim, along with Assistant Chief Sharon Strain and Vice President David Chass, made the deliveries to the various organizations. Accepting on behalf of the organizations were:

"The Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company has been serving Greenwich for more than 70 years," District Chief Rick Strain said in a statement. "This is an extraordinary time and we all need to support each other and work together."

In April, the Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company also provided meals for the doctors, nurses and staff at Greenwich Hospital in appreciation for their efforts since COVID-19 reached Greenwich. RHVFC members and its apparatus, including the state's largest tanker, also participated in the two "drive-by" celebrations of the Greenwich Hospital workers coordinated by the Greenwich Police Department.
