GREENWICH, CT — A popular fast-casual salad chain is set to open in Greenwich following approval from the town's Planning & Zoning Commission on Tuesday.
Just Salad will open at 409 E. Putnam Ave. within Cos Cob Plaza. The commission granted approval to consolidate and change the use of two retail spaces to facilitate a 2,328 square foot restaurant with 28 seats.
Commissioners discussed parking, access and delivery as part of the review process. There are currently 19 parking spaces fronting along East Putnam Avenue, and 36 spaces in the rear. One space will be set aside for rapid pickup.
Included in the approval conditions is a request to make the rear entry more appealing with better signage and lighting. Commissioner Nick Macri said playing up the backdoor entrance is a "critical factor."
"You have probably a lot more parking in the back than you do in the front. It's a lot more convenient, and you're not actually jockeying back and forth with the other tenants in the building in the front, seeing as their front doors are there as well," Macri said.
Just Salad started in 2006 to provide "healthy, affordable, climate-conscious meals that are irresistibly delicious."
There are now over 100 locations across Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.

The menu at Just Salad has a variety of salads customers can choose from, or they can make their own creation. There are also "Market Plates," which combine a premium protein, grains and a seasonal side, as well as warm bowls, wraps, and smoothies.
There are other Just Salad locations in Fairfield, Norwalk, West Hartford and Westport. A location for Milford is listed as "coming soon."
