GREENWICH, CT — The Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company will host its third annual "Family Fun Day" on Saturday, April 25, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Whitby School in Greenwich.
Tickets are available for pre-sale at www.roundhillfire.org. Proceeds will benefit the Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and are fully tax-deductible.
Organizers said this year’s event will help fund the nearly $500,000 cost of rebuilding Tanker 6, the largest water tanker in the region, which serves areas of the backcountry without fire hydrants.
The event is open to children and families of all ages and will include a fire station bounce house, an inflatable fire truck obstacle course, sports games, a soccer experience with Soccer With Aldwin, and a puppy-palooza from Adopt-a-Dog.
Additional activities include a Round Hill Fire and GEMS touch-a-truck, face painting, arts and crafts, and fire safety demonstrations conducted by volunteer firefighters. Scout, the department’s fire dog, is also expected to attend. Three food trucks and a bake sale will provide food options.
"I could not be more excited to have Round Hill Fire lead the third annual 'Family Fun Day' event for our community. We sometimes see families on their worst days so it’s extra special to host an event like this that has hundreds of kids smiling from ear to ear," Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company District Chief Sharon Strain said in a news release.
"More than 400 people attended last year’s event and we’re expecting even more people this year. It’s a phenomenal event and I am proud our volunteer firefighters will all be on hand to meet the community and have some fun. We hope families from all over Greenwich and our surrounding communities come join us for more fun!"
Committee member Caitlin Del Raso said, "our organizing committee, including many backcountry moms, has come together to support our neighborhood Round Hill volunteer firefighters. These volunteers commit their time to protect our homes and properties, and they also volunteer their time to create and run this incredible event for our community. We are so appreciative."
RHVFC President David Chass added, "Family Fun Day presents another opportunity to connect with our community, to raise awareness that we are all volunteers, meet new neighbors, and perhaps even find a few new members to join us to protect the backcountry and all of Greenwich. It’s going to be a fun day for sure!"
The Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company has served the Greenwich backcountry for more than 75 years.
