GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools has announced the honorees for its 2026 Paraeducators of the Year recognition program, honoring professional assistants who support students’ academic and personal development.
District officials said one of the 15 honorees will be selected as Greenwich Public Schools’ nominee for the 2027 Anne Marie Murphy Paraeducator of the Year Award in Connecticut.
Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is observed annually on the first Wednesday in April.
"Each year, we share our devoted appreciation to all of the district’s dedicated paraeducators that provide exceptional support to our students with their adaptability, commitment, and professionalism," GPS Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones said. "Paraeducators are beloved school community members, inspiring students to reach their full potential."
According to the Connecticut State Department of Education, a paraeducator assists teachers, certified professionals and therapists in delivering instructional and related services to students under the supervision of certified or licensed staff.
The school district said each school will hold individual celebrations for the honorees, including certificate presentations and other recognitions.
The district’s nomination for the 2027 Anne Marie Murphy Paraeducator of the Year Award is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
