GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department Scholarship Fund announced plans for the 130th Anniversary Greenwich Policeman’s Ball, scheduled for Oct. 17 at the Riverside Yacht Club.

The black-tie gala will recognize the 130-year history of the Greenwich Police Department while raising money for the scholarship fund, which supports higher education opportunities for children of sworn Greenwich police officers.

The event will be co-chaired by Stephanie Dunn Ashley and Joe Kelly and is expected to bring together community members, law enforcement supporters and department representatives.

"Reaching 130 years is an extraordinary milestone for the Greenwich Police Department and our entire community," Greenwich Police Chief Jim Heavey said in an announcement. "This celebration is about honoring the generations of officers who have served Greenwich with integrity and professionalism, while also investing in the next generation through scholarships that help students pursue their dreams."

According to organizers, the event serves as both a celebration of service and a fundraiser for the scholarship program.

"This event represents the deep connection between the Greenwich Police Department and the community it serves," Kelly said. "The Scholarship Fund allows us to create meaningful opportunities for young people while also recognizing the dedication and sacrifices made by members of the department over the past 130 years."

Ashley said the event will combine tradition and community celebration.

"We are incredibly proud to help lead this special anniversary event," Ashley said. "The Greenwich Policeman’s Ball is more than a gala; it is a tribute to service, community partnership, and the future of the students who benefit from these scholarships. We look forward to bringing the community together for what promises to be a truly memorable evening."

The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include dinner, dancing and tributes recognizing the department’s history and contributions to the community.

Organizers said information about sponsorships, ticket sales and additional details will be released in the coming weeks through the Greenwich Police Department Scholarship Fund.
