The multi-year effort is intended to restore one of Long Island Sound’s most ecologically significant coastal habitats.

SoundWaters, which is based in Stamford, will partner with Greenwich Land Trust on the project by providing educational sails, youth field visits and volunteer stewardship opportunities designed to engage the community throughout the restoration effort.

"SoundWaters is a valued partner because our organizations share a commitment to environmental stewardship, education, and connecting people to the Long Island Sound ecosystem," said Greenwich Land Trust Executive Director Will Kies, in an announcement. "Their ability to bring people onto the water and provide firsthand experiences is invaluable, particularly as we advance projects like the restoration work on Shell Island. SoundWaters’ educational mission and outreach help the broader community better understand and appreciate the importance of protecting the Sound and its watershed."
