Nearly 28,000 Greenwich Residents Without Power

GREENWICH, CT — Nearly 28,000 Greenwich residents are without power Sunday afternoon.

Police said they are aware of a large-scale power outage affecting multiple areas throughout town, including traffic signals, businesses, and residential neighborhoods.

According to Eversource, the outage is the result of an emergency repair that was required within their electrical system, police said.

The Office of Emergency Management has been advised that the power restoration is expected to take approximately two hours as crews complete repairs and reroute power.

Residents are advised to use caution while traveling, as traffic lights may be non-functional, police added.

"Please treat any intersection with a dark or malfunctioning traffic signal as a four-way stop," police said. "At this time, 911 remains fully operational, and residents can continue to call for emergency assistance."

Police, fire, and EMS personnel are actively patrolling and remain available to respond to calls for service. Eversource is actively working to resolve the issue.
