Recent Death Notices From Greenwich: June 8 To July 12, 2026

GREENWICH, CT — Here are the recent death notices from Greenwich.

Susan Kontos, 80, died July 12, 2026, and was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and making her homemade fig jam, which she shared with family, friends and neighbors.

John Joseph Awdziewicz Jr., 94, died July 1, 2026, and was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran who worked as a math teacher, accountant and bookkeeper, volunteered with the American Red Cross, including after Hurricane Andrew, and enjoyed fishing, jogging, tennis, golf, jazz music and spending time with his grandchildren.

Frances Lile Hammond Deinard, 86, died June 30, 2026, and was a French teacher and longtime intellectual property attorney who practiced for decades with major law firms, represented prominent trademark clients, enjoyed traveling and French culture, and was an active member of Stanwich Church.

Frank W. Millard, 94, died June 26, 2026, and was a U.S. Navy veteran who led Turtle & Hughes for decades, transforming it into a global company, while enjoying banjo playing and sailing with his family.

Andrea "Andi" Emerson Putnam, 84, died June 21, 2026, and worked for the American Field Service and Gallery Felix Flowers, served as president of the Green Fingers Garden Club, and enjoyed gardening, flowers, golf, bridge, photography and traveling.

Anne York Wachsman, 93, died June 17, 2026, and worked as a professional animal handler for stage and screen before serving as a theater director and stage manager, while pursuing lifelong interests in music, animals and birds, theater, sailing and horseback riding.

Ron Nicholas Casella, 90, died June 17, 2026, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, three-time Golden Gloves boxing champion and professional boxer who founded the Greenwich YMCA boxing program, worked at Electrolux and the Greenwich YMCA, and mentored generations of local youth.

Patricia (Capalbo) Chrusz, 100, died June 8, 2026, and worked at Electrolux, Manero's Restaurant, Hoglands and Lux Bond & Green, volunteered with numerous Greenwich organizations, helped lead fundraising for Glenville's first ambulance, served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Paul's Church, and enjoyed gardening, knitting, bowling, flower arranging, refinishing antiques, traveling and polka dancing.
