Camillo Urges Caution As Potentially Heavy Rain Moves Into Greenwich Area

GREENWICH, CT — First Selectman Fred Camillo is urging caution Tuesday as heavy rain and potential coastal flooding are forecast for the Greenwich area.

A flood watch is in effect from Tuesday at 2 p.m. through Wednesday at 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

"According to Town of Greenwich Emergency Management Director Joe Laucella, there is high confidence that the storm will bring three to five inches of rain to the southwestern and western areas of Connecticut," an announcement from the town said.

"There is the potential for isolated locations in those parts of the state to see up to 10 inches of rain. It is not yet possible to know exactly what parts of the region will see that excessive amount of rain so people should be prepared and drive home carefully today."

Residents are being advised to clear leaves, trash or debris from storm drains or gutters around their properties. Those who live in areas with a history of flooding should move items that could be damaged.

Motorists should never try to drive through high water. If there is flooding, seek higher ground.
