The Undies Project is launching its Dignity Drawers program with a month-long Back-to-School Drive in Greenwich to collect new boys' and girls' underwear for local schools. The "Back to School Starts with the Basics" campaign will run from August 21 through September 21, 2026.
Dignity Drawers provides schools with a supply of new underwear to keep on hand for students who have an accident or simply need a clean pair during the school day. The program ensures that teachers and school staff have immediate access to this basic necessity without having to purchase underwear themselves.
The Undies Project launched Dignity Drawers as a pilot program last year at New Lebanon School and Central Middle School in Greenwich. Following the pilot, the organization's goal for the 2026–2027 school year is to expand Dignity Drawers to schools throughout Greenwich and surrounding communities.
"Underwear may not be the first thing that comes to mind when we think about what children need at school, but when a child has an accident or needs a clean pair, it becomes incredibly important," said Laura Delaflor, Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Undies Project. "Dignity Drawers allows school staff to respond immediately and discreetly, while helping a child get back to the classroom feeling comfortable and confident."
The Back-to-School Drive will help stock Dignity Drawers as the program expands to additional schools. Community members are encouraged to donate new, packaged boys' and girls' underwear in a variety of sizes.
There are three ways to support the campaign:
·Shop the Amazon Wish List: https://a.co/03EDoMm2
·Mail, packaged boys' and girls' underwear to The Undies Project, 521 E. Putnam Avenue, Cos Cob, CT 06807.
·Make a monetary donation at www.theundiesproject.org. Funds raised will be used to purchase the sizes of children's underwear needed most.
All underwear donations must be new and packaged.
