Program Description

This session is a pre-requisite to painting subjects in watercolors. The beauty and appeal of watercolor paintings depend on the quality and freshness of its color mixes and the application know-how on watercolor paper. To attain the desired and expected purity that attracts students to watercolors, this technical knowledge is at the basis of mastering the art of watercolors. Acquiring this knowledge sustains all further developments as an artist, even in other mediums. Many painters found solace in painting with watercolors due to developing their technical watercolor expertise. From the connection between colors and values, made evident in monochromatic studies, to studying the primary colors, their qualities and effects, to the development of a limited color palette and understanding the right watercolor paper selection as well as brushes and their usage, these foundations are vital information to acquire for budding watercolorists. At the hand of intensive painting exercises, students gradually develop a professional watercolor application and a personal artistic expression. After this session, YOU will be the master of your paint-box and paper!

Greta Corens

Art and design teacher, Greta Corens, began teaching after a career as a successful fashion designer in NYC. She specializes in portraiture, botanical watercolors, landscapes and illustration.
"My paintings are realistic, but they also translate personality and have a soul that vibrates with sensitive qualities that set them apart, where no photography can tread."
She received a master's degree in Art, Architecture, and Design at St. Imelda Institute, div. of St. Lucas Architectural Institute in Brussels, Belgium.
