$34.9 Million Greenwich Home On Estate Once Owned By Academy Award-Winning Actor Hits Market

The $34.9 million Greenwich estate once owned by an Oscar-winning actor includes 14 acres, stables, cottages and a pool, the listing says.

GREENWICH, CT — A Greenwich estate formerly owned by Academy Award-winning actor George C. Scott and his wife, actress Trish Van Devere, has been listed for sale at $34.9 million.

Located at 14 Meadow Lane and listed by Leslie McElwreath with Sotheby's International Realty – Greenwich Brokerage, the property is two miles from Greenwich Avenue and includes a new custom Georgian Colonial built in 2010, according to the real estate listing.

The home was designed by Paul Stephan Marchese & Associates and built by Hobbs Inc. Marchese served as chief architect of the World Trade Center under the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey from 1967 to 1994.

The property includes a stone pool house, a stone two-bedroom cottage with a kitchen, a one-bedroom cottage with a kitchen and a tennis court, according to the listing. It also retains Scott's four-stall stables, a renovated and restored groomsman cottage and an original bridle path measuring almost a mile.

The grounds include 14 acres of meadow-like property suitable for turning out horses, along with lawns and mature landscaping.

In the main residence, there are four levels served by an elevator, five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, one half-bathroom and six fireplaces, according to the listing.

The home also includes a George C. Scott knotty-pine bar room and a kitchen with a 12-foot island and a butler's pantry, according to the listing.

Outside, there is a swimming pool and spa. The stone pool house has indoor and outdoor fireplaces, the listing states.

Scott was a stage, film and television actor best known for his role as Gen. George S. Patton in the 1970 film "Patton."

He won the Best Actor Academy Award for the role but declined to accept it. Scott's other films included "Dr. Strangelove," "The Hustler" and "The Hospital."

Scott died on Sept. 22, 1999, at age 71.

Van Devere earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role in "One Is a Lonely Number" (1972).

She married Scott in 1972 and appeared in films with him, including "The Day of the Dolphin" and "The Changeling."
