Construction to add a sidewalk will begin at the intersection of Sound Beach Avenue and Shore Road and proceed southwest toward Greenwich Point, terminating at the intersection of Shore Road and South Crossway.

During this first phase of construction, the contractor will begin saw-cutting in preparation for the excavation of portions of the roadway and adjacent right-of-way, Greenwich Civil Engineer Ian Brown said.

As construction progresses, Brown said there will be periods when alternating one-way traffic will be necessary. Police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control, and at the end of each workday, the roadway will be restored to a drivable condition.

Brown noted the project is currently anticipated to be completed by the end of the year, although the work schedule depends on weather and other unforeseen conditions.
