GREENWICH, CT — Registration is open for the Greenwich Alliance for Education's 16th annual Turkey Trot, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28, at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.

The event features a 5K run, a 1-mile walk and a Mini-Trot for children ages 3 to 5. It coincides with the Alliance's 20th anniversary.

Registration is available online here. Adult registration for the 5K and 1-mile walk is $40 through Oct. 31, increasing to $50 on Nov. 1 and $55 on race day.

Registration for children ages 6 to 12 is $20, and the Mini-Trot is $20. Prices exclude registration fees.

A virtual 5K is available for $25. Virtual participants do not receive a T-shirt or medal. Early registration is encouraged, as the 5K sold out last year.

The Turkey Trot is the organization's largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds support programs that enrich Greenwich Public School students' educational experiences and help address opportunity gaps.

"The Turkey Trot is a wonderful reflection of what makes Greenwich such a special community—people coming together to have fun, support one another and invest in our children's futures," said GAE Executive Director Julie Faryniarz in a statement.

"As we celebrate the Alliance's 20th anniversary, we're proud of the difference our community has made in the lives of Greenwich Public School students. Every registration, donation and sponsorship helps us continue that work, and the Turkey Trot is a joyful way for families, friends and neighbors to participate and contribute."

Funds raised through the Turkey Trot support the Alliance's work across Greenwich Public Schools, including Reaching Out Grants for innovative school programs, Tuning In To Music for free instrumental lessons, AVID SUCCESS to expand the AVID program addressing opportunity gaps, and the eighth-grade Capstone Experience trip to Washington, D.C.

Medals and prizes will recognize top 5K finishers in a variety of categories. The awards ceremony is expected to take place at approximately 11:15 a.m., after runners and walkers have finished.

The Run for Your School competition will recognize Greenwich schools with the highest participation percentage and the largest number of runners. Winning schools will receive Turkey Trot trophies and be recognized through photographs and community recognition. The competition closes Thursday, Nov. 26.

Participants can also raise additional funds for the Alliance by asking family and friends to sponsor their participation. Teams of extended family members, friends, sports teams and clubs are welcome.
