
Barbara O’Shea is the recipient of the 2012 Owl Award, the
highest honor presented yearly by Greenwich Pen Women to a member who has made outstanding contributions in letters, art or music in our community. A well-known and well regarded photographer, her recent accomplishments include winning First Place in Black and White Photography at the Art Society of Old Greenwich’s Open Juried Show.
She is a Greenwich Pen Women board member, co-chair of the organization’s Art Committee and co-chair of “Elements
II, Artworks by Greenwich Pen Women”, a juried show of varied media on display at the Byram Shubert Library until December 31st. Kathy Di Giovanna, a photographer, and
recipient of the 2010 Owl Award made the presentation at the Field Club, on the occasion of the group’s Annual Holiday Luncheon.
The afternoon concluded with a presentation by Roberta
Seret, a Pen Women member, of her educational film on Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar. Entitled “The Lady” it is part of “FilmEd”, an educational program which grew out of her work at the United Nations and has been implemented in several New York City schools.
