United Way Welcomes 6 New Board Members at Annual Meeting

The Greenwich United Way welcomed six new members to the board at the annual meeting Jan. 26th. Susan Wohlforth chaired the Nominating Committee. The following were elected to three year terms:

David Boutry, Managing Director in the Financial Sponsors Group at Deutsche Bank, is married to Elizabeth Boutry, co-chair of the current United Way Residential Campaign and a past co-chair of Oktoberfest. The Boutrys have four children. Dave is one of the four co-chairs of the United Way’s new Men’s Committee.

Stephanie Cowie, also a veteran United Way volunteer, has chaired “Lobsterfest” and is active with the United Sole Sisters and Oktoberfest fundraising events. Steph graduated from the University of Rhode Island and is a Senior Consultant with American Benefits Consulting LLC. Her husband Jim is a co-chair of the United Way’s Men’s Committee.

Richard Porter, a London, England, native, lives in Riverside with his wife Linda, a former United Way Board Chair. He recently retired from his position as a human resources executive with Aon Hewitt Management Consulting. Richard was as a member of last year’s United Way Community Investment Committee.

Anne Sherrerd, a graduate of Yale College and  Princeton University School of Architecture, has had a career in finance, corporate real estate and architecture. She recently completed a term as President of the Princeton Alumni Association. During the 1990s, Anne worked on numerous local projects as a member of the Junior League of Greenwich and has played volunteer leadership roles with the Riverside Association and Greenwich Academy.

Jill Weiner is a Tulane University, Freeman School of Business graduate who lives with her family in Riverside. Formerly affiliated with Arthur Anderson, she is now the Executive Director of the Helping Hands Foundation, providing support to city hospitals, heath care and children’s causes. Jill has volunteered for the Randall’s Island Sports Foundation Youth Camps, Kids in Crisis and her children’s local schools.

Cathy Youngman is a veteran of the Junior League; ultimately she served as the JLG’s Community Director.  She has been a member of the United Way Community Planning Council, Youth Services Council, and the Community Investment Committee. She studied at Boston University, American University, the New York School of Interior Design and Bard Graduate Center. Cathy and her husband have two children. She now has her own Retail and Design business, Meijing Design.

Each year, over 650 United Way volunteers research local needs, coordinate the delivery of services, and raise funds in an annual campaign to provide much needed support for local services.  Besides being a leader of local community planning efforts for the town, the Greenwich United Way is the largest non-governmental source of funding for health and human service programs in our community.
