Arrest Made In Greenwich Handbag Shoplifting Case: Police

GREENWICH, CT — A New York man was charged this week in connection to a handbag shoplifting incident in Greenwich last year, according to police. On Monday, Maurice White, 46, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., was extradited from the Westchester County Correctional facility in Valhalla, N.Y., by Greenwich Police.

White was brought to Connecticut on an active arrest warrant and charged with first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny and organized retail theft. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Lt. Mark Zuccerella said White, along with an unidentified accomplice, is accused of stealing "numerous handbags" from a Saks Fifth Avenue store, located on Greenwich Avenue, in January 2019. The lieutenant also noted the case is "now closed."
