August Lineup Announced For Free Music Fridays
The free concert series is held every Friday in Greenwich Common just off Greenwich Avenue.
GREENWICH, CT — The August lineup for Greenwich's Free Music Fridays has been released.
The free concert series is held every every Friday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Greenwich Common, just off the Avenue in downtown. Produced by Greenwich Forward, Re-Imagine Greenwich, and the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department, Free Music Fridays features local artists with different performers every week, appealing to various musical tastes.
According to a news release, the attendance has been growing every Friday, with people enjoying the music while picnicking on blankets and tables in the park. Several Greenwich Avenue restaurants are supporting Free Music Fridays by offering grab-to-go lunches.

"This new addition to summer in Greenwich has been uplifting for our community as evidenced by the growing audience every week and the wide range of ages that attend," said First Selectman Fred Camillo in a news release. "I am especially appreciative of the musicians who have volunteered their talent and time to the Free Music Fridays, which is an exemplary example of how Greenwich brings the community together in unique and thoughtful ways. Free Music Fridays are weekly celebrations that highlight some of the qualities of life that contribute to what makes Greenwich a tremendous town to live, do business, and to raise a family."

Aug. 6, Hot Rubber Monkey Band
This Greenwich-based group has been together for nearly four years, playing local spots, corporate events, weddings, and outdoor area events including, the Blues & Views Festival at the Levitt Pavilion and Westport's LobsterFest. The band's line-up features Jay Carthaus on lead guitar and vocals, Vince Galizi, on guitar and vocals, Ed Train, on keyboards, Doug Pratt on bass and vocals, and Stu Ploss, on drums.
Aug. 13, The Blues Patrol Showtime
The Blues Patrol Showtime Band perpetuates the iconic act we know as Jake and Elwood backed by some of the finest musicians Fairfield county has to offer. They have performed everywhere from the finest venues to the dirtiest dumps! Jake and Elwood's antics will entertain you while Performing some of your favorite hits from your favorite music movie.
Aug. 20, Mark Zelenz
Mark Zelenz is a popular Local Musician playing a variety of music from classic rock to contemporary music and pop. He was born and raised in Cos Cob. Mark has been known as the lead singer of the Short Bus; he has embarked on a solo career and has an impressive repertoire of popular songs.
Aug. 27, The Girlz and The Boyz
The Girlz and the Boyz deliver three strong ladies upfront singing powerful songs with stellar harmonies backed up by the Boyz, all veterans of the Fairfield County music scene. The group started supporting breast cancer awareness and evolved into a powerhouse band available for fundraisers and public and private events.
Past performers have included Mark Zelenz, Billy G and the Boys, Cover story with Megan Tyre, Frank Rogers and The Sound Cats, Molly & Jack, Tor Newcomer, Gridline, and Billy and The Shoemen.
The Free Music Fridays series is seeking sponsors, which will include signage at the event. Each sponsor will have their name credited to underwriting the hour of music, in conjunction with Greenwich Forward, Re-Imagine Greenwich, and Parks & Recreation, and other sponsors. Sponsors can have a table at the event to promote their business and hand out promotional material.
